We were the phoenix which arose out of the ashes of Sandton Executive Delivery Services, which was in existence for over twenty years, but which lost its shirt trying to handle a very unprofitable contract to warehouse and distribute wines for a well-known, Cape-based vineyard. SEDS want into liquidation as a result, but the newly formed I'Zulu retained ALL the SEDS clientele, its vehicles, management and drivers - for which a considerable goodwill sum was paid.
We call ourselves "I'Zulu Ndiza Couriers" - the name arising out of the Zulu word for Lightning ("i'zulu") and the Zulu word for rapid ("ndiza") - we like to think that these words accurately describe the way we conduct our operation. (Sometimes we jokingly refer to ourselves as "The Greased Lightning Couriers"!)
As I'Zulu we have been around for just on two years. During this time we have honed our operation to cater for what is now our niche market - clients who often have high deadline needs, and who are looking for a more personalised relationship than that which is feasible in the case of the much larger, and perhaps better-known organisations.
We are based in Marlboro Gardens, Sandton, which, by the way, puts us at between five and ten minutes from Sandton City.
Broadly, our service can be divided into four categories, as follows:
- OVERNIGHT DELIVERIES
The client calls us at any time up to 3.00 pm, and we collect that afternoon, for delivery by lunchtime next morning.
- SAME-DAY DELIVERIES
The client calls us at any time up to midday, and we deliver in the course of that afternoon's normal working hours.
- SPECIAL DELIVERIES
The client needs to effect a collection and delivery "within a shift", for example, they call us before 10.30 am, needing a delivery during the same morning, or they call before 2.00 pm, for delivery that afternoon.
- VIP SPECIAL DELIVERIES
The client experiences a requirement that is so urgent that we have to "drop everything", and send a driver virtually immediately, and to proceed directly to the required address. We have found that the most frequent users of this category have been companies in your kind of industry!
